Shelby Schiller employs a holistic approach to therapy, integrating a range of evidence-based modalities to support trauma healing and overall well-being. She combines Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with Somatic Experiencing—a gentle, body-centered therapy—to help clients process and release trauma. Depending on each individual's needs, she may also incorporate contemplative practices such as mindfulness and meditation, expressive therapies, psychodynamic approaches, and cognitive therapies including CBT, ABT, and ACT.
Throughout her career, Shelby has been deeply moved by the transformative power of psychotherapy to help individuals overcome challenges and lead more meaningful, connected lives. Her clinical focus includes supporting clients through life transitions, grief and loss, and the complex process of trauma recovery. Shelby believes that true healing occurs when therapy helps individuals access their inner strengths and natural resilience. She is committed to creating a therapeutic relationship that is both supportive and collaborative, leading to improved emotional well-being, healthier relationships, enhanced motivation, greater self-acceptance, and renewed creativity.
Shelby works with individuals who feel overwhelmed, struggle with relationships, or rely on ineffective or unhealthy coping strategies. She helps clients reconnect with themselves, experience emotions in more balanced ways, and cultivate intimacy and authenticity in their lives. Her work focuses on guiding clients toward self-trust and the development of meaningful, healthier relationships, while creating space for joy and positive growth.
Trauma often reveals itself through relational difficulties, intense emotional states, or a persistent sense of low self-worth. It can keep the nervous system in a prolonged state of survival. Shelby partners with clients—and their nervous systems—to gently negotiate healing and foster a life rooted in connection, clarity, and freedom. Her approach is both insightful and direct, and she is particularly skilled at helping clients uncover direction and clarity from past traumas and oppressive societal narratives. Clients frequently describe Shelby’s therapeutic style as authentic, conversational, and genuinely supportive.
At the core of her philosophy is the belief that individuals are not defined by their experiences or behaviors. However, she acknowledges that such experiences often shape the core beliefs that drive emotional and behavioral patterns. Shelby’s role is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where clients can access their own inner wisdom and begin to transform those beliefs.
For those who feel even a small spark of hope, Shelby encourages taking the next step. She offers a free 15-minute consultation call for individuals ready to begin their healing journey.
