My background includes over ten years of experience working with children, youth and families in schools, treatment centers, and homes; and 14 years teaching university courses on education and adolescent development. My approach involves working with you to discover your strengths, interests, and crucial relationships in developing a life story that makes sense of past milestones (whether painful or joyful), present challenges and opportunities, and hopes and intentions for the future.
Some influences on my approach include CBT, DBT, attachment theory, positive psychology, narrative identity theory, and Self-Determination Theory. I also recognize that people are often influenced by religious and spiritual experiences, and so I have spent time studying major religious systems from both the East and West and have developed a respect for various religious and philosophical traditions.
